Non Croydon Resident Candidates

Electoral Registration tells me:

‘Individuals must meet at least one of four possible qualifications if they wish to be a candidate in local council elections:

(  a) be registered as a local government elector in the borough

   b) have during the whole of the preceding 12 months occupied as owner or tenant land or other premises in the borough

(  c) their principal or only place of work during the preceding 12 months has been in the borough

(  d) have during the whole of the preceding 12 months resided in the borough

It is therefore possible for someone to stand for election if they live outside Croydon if they meet qualification (c) and their principal or only place of work is in Croydon borough.’
