New Bins

2 new style bins – ‘belly bins’ which can compress the amount of rubbish have been installed on London Rd, one by the railings at the path to the Railway Station.

  • Crime figures 2-10 March

Total: 17. Two each: ABH, domestic incident, theft from motor vehicles and theft not classified elsewhere. One each: public order offence, theft of parcel, theft of Motor Vehicle, theft of pedal Cycle, arson-other building-no danger life, burglary in a dwelling, burglary non dwelling, affray, and theft in a dwelling.

  • Crime figures 8 to 15 March

Total: 14. Theft of motor vehicle (4), burglary non dwelling (3), possession of cannabis (2). One each: theft of pedal cycle, public order offence, robbery of business property, robbery of personal property and GBH/serious wounding.

The police are treating the recent fire that tore through nine vehicles in a Norbury garage as suspicious.

  • Arrest at Station led to gaol

Three men have been jailed for a total of 28 years for firearm offences after police found a shortened rifle in holdall at Norbury Station.

Since moving to Norbury in July 2011 I have been active on local economy issues with Croydon TUC and Croydon Assembly, and am a member of the latter's Environment Forum. I am a member of the 5 Norbury Residents Associations Joint Planning Committee, and a Governor of Norbury Manor Primary School. I write for Croydon Citizen at I co-ordinate the Samuel Coleridge-Taylor and Croydon Radical History Networks and advise the North East People's History Project.. I give history talks and lead history walks. I retired in 2012 having worked in the community/voluntary sector and on heritage projects. My history interests include labour movement, mutuality, Black British, slavery & abolition, Edwardian roller skating and the social and political use of music and song. I have a particular interest in the histories of Battersea and Wandsworth, Croydon and Lambeth. I have a publishing imprint History & Social Action Publications.
