This follows the refusal of 16/00009/P for a single/2-storey side/rear extension and conversion of garage to habitable use.

Cllr Maggie Mansell has submitted her objection and if necessary wants it considered by the Council’s Planning Committee. ‘This is a Shisha bar which is not complying with the existing conditions, including hours of operation or smoking only in an open environment. They do not seem to appreciate that Shisha is injurious to health of users and that workers have a right not to have to work in secondary smoke. I believe that their operation is injurious to health and wellbeing of the locality because they are encouraging smoking. I would be happy if they were running a cake and ice cream bar.’

The JPC is also objecting on the grounds that smoking in an enclosed space contravenes the anti-smoking legislation which pubs and restaurants have to comply with. There is continual press on the Council to enforce the law.

1361 London Road (17/00016/FUL)

Alterations and erection of a single storey extension to provide an additional one bedroom flat.
